Present in France since 1968, through AGIP service stations, ENI has taken advantage of the liberalization of gas markets to take a stake in Altergaz in 2007.
In 2012, Altergaz became ENI Gas & Power France.

In 2020, the group was the 2nd alternative supplier of natural gas and electricity.
