Agri-food sector
Steam for dairies, cooling for meat chilling in slaughterhouses, tunnel ovens for industrial bakeries, bottling lines, and autoclaves for canneries: every business combines gas and electricity in its own way. Sirenergies supports you in purchasing both of these energy sources, adjusts your distribution costs, and monitors each site in Pilott.

Key figures for your sector
Steam, hot water, and cooking on one side; cooling and production lines on the other: every site pays for two energy sources, which a purchasing strategy must address together.
Share of natural gas in the gross energy consumption of agri-food industries.
Maximum share of electricity at a meat industry site used for cooling.
Increase in the agri-food industry's energy bill in 2023.

Our goals and your challenges
supporting dairies, slaughterhouses and cutting plants, industrial bakeries, bottling sites, and canneries with an expense that weighs on their margins: energy. We analyze your gas and electricity contracts, prepare the competitive bidding process for suppliers with you, review your distribution costs and excise duties, and then monitor each site in Pilott. Refrigeration specialists, heating engineers, and design offices remain your technical partners; you remain the buyer, and we advise you at every step.
Agri-food industries consume approximately 5 million tonnes of oil equivalent per year(decarbonization roadmap for the agri-food industry, September 2023). Gas produces the heat: steam for dairies, hot water for slaughterhouses, autoclaves for canneries, and burners for bakery ovens. Electricity powers the cooling, compressed air, blow-molding machines, and packaging lines. Both of these energy sources remain more expensive than in 2019, often on thin margins. Sirenergies, a consultant in contractual strategy and energy data management, helps manufacturers buy at the right time, pay the correct amount for network costs, and link every expense to their production.
Sector challenges
Dairies, slaughterhouses, bakeries, beverage producers, and canneries: three issues recur across these different sectors.

Dairies, slaughterhouses, cutting plants, and freezing facilities run their refrigeration systems day and night, while simultaneously heating water for pasteurization, scalding, or cleaning. Sirenergies analyzes the contracts and subscribed power levels associated with these two needs, without interfering with temperature settings, which remain under the control of your teams.

Industrial bakery tunnel ovens, canning thermal processes, and dairy pasteurization: many sites combine gas and electricity for the same equipment and release underutilized heat. Sirenergies supports you in the joint procurement of these two energy sources and calculates the potential for heat recovery before any investment is made.

Ice cream, canning, and frozen food production are highly seasonal, while the thermal inertia of cold storage rooms offers demand response potential, as studied by ADEME for frozen food warehouses. Sirenergies adapts your contracts to this rhythm, evaluates this flexibility, and identifies the service provider capable of monetizing it.
In the first year, we saved almost 20% compared to the initial budget of the new contract. In theory, we had a budget of €600,000 with the new contract, and thanks to the optimization, we went down to €450,000 in electricity costs, all inclusive.

The Sirenergies advantage
For a food industry manufacturer, energy consulting means linking two bills—the gas used for heat and the electricity used for cooling—to the actual pace of production. Sirenergies achieves this through its consultants and its Pilott platform: contract analysis, procurement support, optimization of distribution fees and excise taxes, and site-by-site consumption monitoring.
The context
Between 2019 and 2024, the average price of a tonne of oil equivalent paid by the food industry increased by a factor of 1.9, compared to 1.3 in the chemical industry (Insee Première No. 2095, February 2026).

What Sirenergies does for all sites
Joint gas and electricity procurement, review of distribution costs, TURPE (public electricity network usage tariff) and ATRD (third-party access to gas distribution networks), annual audit of electricity excise duties (formerly TICFE) and natural gas excise duties (formerly TICGN), followed by D+1 monitoring in Pilott.
