Metallurgy, forming, and machining: industrial boilermaking and piping
Rolling, welding, heat treatment, pressure testing: electricity for welding stations and furnaces alternates with the gas used to heat high-ceiling workshops and occasionally stress-relieving furnaces. Sirenergies optimizes energy for your boilermaking and industrial piping workshop across both energy sources.

Key industry figures
Boilermaking is part of a metallurgical sector that consumes significant amounts of gas and has seen energy prices rise sharply: enough reason to build a procurement strategy for both energy sources.

The energy profile of a boilermaking workshop
The situation: a dual-energy workshop
TIG, MIG, or submerged arc welding stations, rollers, press brakes, plasma cutting: electricity follows the pace of business, in bursts. Post-weld heat treatment brings parts to several hundred degrees for hours, in furnaces or via resistance heating. Gas heats high-ceiling workshops, often opened to move parts out, and sometimes powers the furnaces. Pressure testing utilizes test pumps and compressors. Across the metallurgy and metal products sector, electricity accounted for 1,901 ktoe in 2024 (Insee, June 2026).
Our role: balancing the two energy sources
Welding processes and qualifications remain the responsibility of your teams. Sirenergies advises your management on three levers.

Your energy challenges
Welding that demands power in bursts, high-ceiling halls to heat all winter, and energy costs diluted across projects: every boilermaker and pipefitter encounters these issues in their accounts. Sirenergies provides solutions through distribution, gas procurement, and project-by-project monitoring.
Continuous welding and subsequent heat treatment form the core of the workshop's energy profile, even though this item is not always isolated in budget tracking.
Sirenergies analyzes your load curves by production line to provide an objective view of the actual cost of welding and post-weld heat treatment.
Boilermaking sites often combine several production lines (welding, heat treatment, pressure testing), which complicates the sizing of a single subscribed power contract.
Sirenergies verifies your contract settings and your TURPE to adjust them for a multi-line continuous process site.
With approximately 4,500 companies, 95% of which are SMEs, the industrial boiler-making and piping sector remains a market that no broker specifically targets, due to a lack of in-house energy expertise in most workshops.
Sirenergies puts our trusted partner suppliers in competition to secure a contract tailored to your consumption profile, without the need for in-house energy expertise.
Contractual and data expertise
From welding stations to hall heating, Sirenergies supports you with the electricity and gas needs of your boilermaking and piping workshops. Your welders handle the processes; our consultants manage the contracts, distribution, and consumption tracking, project by project.
Reviewing your gas and electricity contracts, their expiration dates, your daily gas capacity, and your subscribed power levels; annual excise tax analysis; and identifying applicable CEE certificates for heating and compressed air.
Consulting our partner suppliers for hall gas and workshop electricity, multi-criteria offer analysis, preparing for negotiations alongside you, and advising on the best time to lock in your prices.
Gas: ATRD options and daily capacity adjusted for the heating season. Electricity: TURPE options and power levels per period aligned with welding and heat treatment needs. Procedures handled with network operators.
Simulating the cost of a stress-relieving cycle using gas versus electricity based on your prices, budget forecasting for various hedging strategies, and studying heat pumps for offices or heat recovery from compressors.
Gas and electricity consumption tracking at D+1, price alerts for both energy types, budget forecasting, and centralized contracts, with CSV or API exports to allocate energy costs to your projects.
A dedicated consultant monitors the gas and electricity markets, your contract deadlines, and relevant regulations, then works with you to build an energy cost indicator per project or per ton of welded material.

Methodology and definitions
In a boilermaking workshop, electricity is used for welding and gas for heating: two types of energy, two networks, two contracts. Energy consulting involves sizing daily gas capacity and electrical power based on the workshop's actual needs, assisting with the procurement of both energy sources, and then comparing their costs for heat treatment and space heating. At Sirenergies, this work combines a dedicated consultant with data from the Pilott platform.
The context
In 2024, industrial facilities consuming less than 2 GWh paid €90.1 per megawatt-hour for gas, compared to €44.1 for those consuming over 20 GWh (Insee Première No. 2095, February 2026). For a boilermaking workshop, which is often below this first threshold, the gas procurement method is just as important as the volume.
