One of the main producers and suppliers of European electricity, Vattenfall is a major player in the energy landscape. Its main ambition? Make it possible to live without fossil fuels within a generation.

SirEnergies explains everything to you in less than 3 minutes.

Understand who Vattenfall is

Vattenfall is a Swedish company, which produces and distributes electricity.

Created in 1909, following the restructuring of the canal and the hydroelectric power station in Trollhättan (in Sweden), Vattenfall is now 100% owned by the Swedish State.

The company has more than 20,000 employees and is present in 7 countries (Sweden, Germany, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Finland and France).

For the record, Vattenfall means “waterfall” in Swedish.

What are Vattenfall's activities in France?

Vattenfall has been present in France for more than 20 years, its head office is located in Didenheim, near Mulhouse.

Initially, Vattenfall only offered electricity offers in order to supply industrial professionals and major accounts, today the company offers offers of gas and electricity supply for professionals of all sizes and recently for French individuals.

Energy supplier for French businesses

Vattenfall is positioned as an alternative energy supplier (gas and electricity) by offering offers to all types of professional customer profiles (from small businesses to major account customers).

More than 130 TWh of electricity have been supplied to customers since 2000, when Vattenfall was founded in France.

But also an energy supplier for individuals

Vattenfall has opened up to the market of French individuals in the supply of gas and electricity since 2018.

The company was therefore positioned as a major competitor in the face of market giants: EDF and Engie to name but a few.

What are Vattenfall's offers for professionals?

Electricity offers dedicated to professionals

Two offers are offered by Vattenfall for professionals (small businesses, SMEs, SMEs, manufacturers and major accounts):

  • Eco electricity : an offer providing electricity called”carbon neutral”, that is to say produced from energy that emits few CO2, 10% cheaper than TRV and without a long-term commitment
  • Eco + Green Electricity : the only difference with the “Eco Electricity” offer is that the electricity supplied is 100% “green”. This electricity is produced entirely from renewable energies (wind, hydroelectric, solar) and certified by Guarantees of Origin.

Natural gas offers dedicated to professionals

Two gas offers are offered by Vattenfall for professionals:

  • Fixed gas 36 months : as the name suggests, a gas price mounted over 36 months, with a 10% discount on the price per kWh compared to the regulated rate and without a long-term commitment
  • Eco gas : an offer entirely adapted to the needs of the customer and tailor-made, with a 10% discount on the price per kWh compared to the regulated rate and without a long-term commitment

Also, like many other alternative suppliers, Vattenfall offers a “dual” offer combining Electricity and Gas in order to opt for a single energy supplier.
