E-commerce and fulfillment

Warehouses and 3PL: e-commerce and fulfillment

E-commerce logistics: prepare for your energy peaks

At the end of the year, sorters run at full capacity and packing areas fill up, often when electricity for conveyors and gas for heating are at their most expensive. Energy management for an e-commerce warehouse hinges on this peak: Sirenergies supports you in purchasing your energy and calibrating your power requirements.

Key industry figures

Orders, workstation heating, and taxes: the fundamentals of fulfillment

Every additional order puts a strain on conveyors, lighting, and heating in preparation areas, while electricity taxes changed again in 2026. Your purchasing strategy must be based on these parameters.

3.2 billion

E-commerce transactions, products, and services recorded in France in 2025.

4.4

kWh/m²/year target for the Tertiary Decree per degree of workstation heating.

26.35

€/MWh excise duty on electricity (formerly TICFE) for over 36 kVA since August 2026.

The energy profile of a fulfillment site

Conveyors, packing stations, and staff heating drive the bill

A warehouse that consumes in sync with orders

In a fulfillment site, conveyors, sorters, scanners, and mobile robots draw from the power grid throughout all preparation hours, often across two or three shifts; this is in addition to lighting for packing stations and equipment charging. Gas heats the preparation areas where staff are concentrated. The Tertiary Decree recognizes this profile: it sets a target of 0.6 kWh/m²/year per point of surface area dedicated to custom packaging (Ministry of Ecological Transition, 2030 Absolute Values sheet for Logistics).

Our role: translating your activity into fair contracts

Your integrators manage the equipment; Sirenergies manages what you buy and pay for.

  1. Procurement: electricity and gas procurement with coverage levels tailored to your peak season.
  2. Power: TURPE (public electricity grid usage tariff) power levels reviewed before each new line, and ATRD (third-party access to gas distribution networks) options verified for heating.
  3. Data: next-day consumption data for each site in Pilott, exportable for your client allocation keys.

Your energy challenges

The 3 energy challenges for e-commerce and fulfillment sites

A spike in orders in the middle of winter, automated lines added as you grow, process consumption that no one is measuring: a fulfillment site evolves faster than its energy contracts. Sirenergies brings these three areas back into sync with your operations, from energy pricing to the data you report.

Methodology and definitions

What is energy consulting for an e-commerce warehouse?

What is the energy cost of an order prepared in December? For an e-commerce warehouse or fulfillment center, energy consulting begins with delivery costs: the electrical power required by automated lines and the gas capacity for heating, both adjusted to the commercial calendar. It also covers energy procurement and site-by-site monitoring, supported by Sirenergies consultants and the Pilott platform.

‍

A market driven by purchase frequency

Online sales in France reached 196.4 billion euros in 2025 (Fevad, report published February 11, 2026). The warehouses preparing these orders concentrate their consumption over a few peak weeks.

What Sirenergies does

  • Adjust TURPE (public electricity grid usage tariff) power settings before any automation expansion.
  • Verify the ATRD (third-party access to gas distribution networks) options and capacity for heating systems.
  • Prepare electricity and gas procurement ahead of the high season, then monitor each site on a daily basis.
