Who is GEG and what are its activities in France?

GEG is at the same time a local distribution company (ELD), an energy producer, supplier and distributor located in Grenoble.

The birth of the company dates back to 1867, when the City of Grenoble decided to create a municipal gas exploitation and distribution service. The municipal electricity service was created a little later in 1903.

GEG was transformed into a management company in 1946 under the decision of the City of Grenoble, and in 1986 became a mixed economy company.

Today, Gaz Électricity de Grenoble is still a local company, which Produces renewables, provides electricity and gas throughout the country and manages gas and electricity distribution networks of the Grenoble conglomeration.

Focus on the supply of electricity to the Eiffel Tower, a major challenge

In 2015, the Rhône-Alpes company won the tender to supply electricity to the Eiffel Tower, which until then had been supplied with electricity by EON, the German energy company.

This contract allowed GEG to prove that it is possible to supply this French monument with 100% renewable energy, corresponding to a quantity of 7 GW, or about a thousand French homes.

GEG Source d'Énergies offers electricity offers Tarif Bleu at regulated sales rates (TRV) as for EDF's offers.

GEG also offers an offer Blue Rate Green Option to support renewable energies at an additional cost on the bill.

For customers with meter power < 36 kVA, a tailor-made offer is also offered (Yéli by GEG) with a personalized price and guaranteed for 3 years.

Electricity offer at a fixed price from GEG Source d'Énergies > 36 kVA

GEG has developed a fixed price market offer, intended for professional customers with a meter power greater than 36 kVA, for a period of 1 to 3 years.

The latter can also include the Renewable Energy option, certified by the Guarantees of Origin mechanism.

Gas offers for professionals < 30 MWh

For customers consuming less than 30 MWh, two offers are offered by GEG Source d'Énergies:

• Mont Gaz offer : market price and without commitment
• Yéli by GEG offer : personalized and fixed price for 3 years with a share of green energy in the final offer

Gas offers for professionals > 30 MWh

The personalized price offer is the only offer for professionals consuming more than 30 MWh. This is a market offer over a period of 1 to 3 years with a price per kWh cheaper than the regulated rate. It is a tailor-made offer.
