History

The National Electricity and Thermal Company (SNET) was created in 1995 and has gradually established itself as one of the main players in the electricity production market. Subsequently, it became an electricity distributor and a gas supplier respectively in 2000 and 2003.
It was purchased between 2008 and 2009 by E. ON and the merger of these 2 companies gave birth to the UNIPER France group (note that all of the latter's activities were in turn bought by EPH).
UNIPER took the name “GazelEnergie” in 2019 and continued to be a producer and supplier of renewable energies. In addition, it plays an important role in the energy transition sector.
