A French company initially created in 1931, under the name of URG (Utilization Ratio nelle du Gaz), Butagaz is present in France on the markets for liquefied petroleum gases (propane and butane), electricity and natural gas for individuals and professionals.

The company also sells wood pellets as well as LPG fuel.

In the 1950s, Butagaz generalized the (too famous) blue gas cylinder in homes and launched gas in tanks for individuals the following decade. An era that saw the birth of the company's famous mascot: the Blue Bear.

In 2017, the supplier of natural gas and electricity for professionals European gas, joins the Butagaz group. This acquisition makes the company a multi-energy supplier by marketing natural gas and electricity, as well as wood pellets.

Focus on the history of the blue gas bottle
