Pom'Ligne: an SME in the agricultural sector with 3 GWh of annual consumption

François Cordier, CEO of Pom'Ligne and Sirenergies customer for 4 years now, opened the doors of his apple orchard to us.

Pom'Ligne is a company in the industrial/agricultural sector managing 9 energy delivery points, including several high-voltage sites representing the majority of its energy budget.

Facing the energy crisis: the Pom'Ligne challenge (600,000€ provisional budget)

Between 2022 and the beginning of 2023, like many companies in the world, Pom'Ligne suffered the full brunt of the energy crisis and saw its bills explode.

This expense is now too large a part of the company's budget. It then becomes imperative to find economic levers, without compromising production or the quality of service.

The problems identified:

  • The weight of energy expenses is exploding: the estimated annual budget has increased to 600,000€, threatening the profitability of the company.
  • The difficulty in understanding the contract made its optimization complex.
  • Time-consuming management and inadequate tools: the monitoring of the 9 sites was long and the existing tools, “hyper-rustic”, did not allow any detailed analysis or reactivity.

The SirEnergies approach: strategic human support and Pilott management tool

Following their meeting, Jérémy Rivera (Key Account Sales Manager) at Sirenergies supported the client through several key steps to transform this budgetary constraint into an optimization opportunity.

  • Step 1: sourcing and strategic contract selection (2022)

    Upstream, Sirenergies mobilized its expertise in sourcing and Purchase of energy to help the company choose the contracts most suited to its consumer profile, despite a difficult market context. The aim was to guarantee an optimal supply price.

  • Step 2: Deploying the Pilott platform (early 2023)

    From the start of the new contract, the company had access to the Pilott platform, starting with the functionality of contract and invoice management. This allowed him to visualize and analyze his consumption data in a simple and intuitive way, while ensuring the price compliance of the 9 delivery points.

    The tool did not in any way replace the presence of Jérémy, who continued to support and support François Cordier to understand his contract and identify optimization opportunities.

  • Step 3: Identification of optimization opportunities and implementation of an action plan (first weeks)

    Thanks to the features of monitoring and analysis of consumption by Pilott (graphs and histograms), the customer was able to precisely identify periods of off-peak hours and peaks in consumption of its machine tools and irrigation systems.

A costed action plan has been drawn up based on this Diagnosis : shift the operation of the most energy-consuming equipment to the cheapest time slots.

  • Step 4: Centralized remote control for real-time adjustment

    The client used Pilott on a daily basis, particularly at the beginning of each month, to check the effectiveness of the action plan and to make adjustments where necessary.

  • The platform thus made it possible to monitor consumption hour by hour, to detect anomalies and to remotely manage all 9 sites. The integration of market price data has also allowed a dynamic adjustment of the machine settings to remain within the right price ranges.
We adjust the settings of the machines if we see that we have too many peak hours or not enough off-peak hours. We change the clocks, or the programming, to stay in the right ranges.


Monitoring of consumption by hour of the day - Pilott

Results: significant savings from the first year

From the first year of using Pilott, François Cordier was able to observe its direct and quantifiable impact on the finances and operational efficiency of his company.

  • €150,000 saved: the annual budget was reduced from €600,000 to €450,000, i.e. a net saving of 25%.

In theory, we had a budget of 600,000 euros with the new contract, and thanks to the optimization, we went down to 450,000 euros in electricity costs, all inclusive.

  • Almost immediate return on investment: the savings generated greatly exceeded the cost of the solution, from the first year of use.

  • Time savings: the centralized management of the 9 sites allowed considerable time savings, better reactivity in the face of anomalies and decision-making based on clear data.

It is therefore very practical, with one click, to see what is happening remotely: is everything working well, is there no problem, a derailed machine... You can rectify without having to move.

  • Team autonomy and ease of use: François Cordier did not need weeks of training before knowing how to use Pilott, which he himself describes as “very easy to use”, even for a non-specialist team.

    He and his teams were thus able to become actors in Pom'Ligne's energy performance.
