🚨 TICFE decrease for businesses on February 1, 2022

No it's not a mistake in our title, we actually talk a lot about increases at SirEnergies, but this time it's definitely a drop!

We were talking about it a few weeks ago, Raising the ARENH ceiling enacted by the French government to deal with the spectacular rise in electricity prices is not the only device put in place by the State.

Indeed, and it has been official since Friday, January 28, 2022, the Domestic tax on final consumption of electricity (TICFE) is Reduced :

• from €22.50/MWh to €0.50/MWh for SMEs/SMIs and other industries,
• from 22.50€/MWh to 1 €/MWh for individuals.

A quick reminder of the TICFE, what is it for?

It should be remembered that the TICFE was formerly nicknamed the CSPE (Contribution to the Public Electricity Service). Originally, this tax was intended to cover several expenses related to the public electricity service.

Since its creation in 2004, at the dawn of The opening of electricity markets, this tax continued to increase until 2016 to reach the rate we know today: €22.50/MWh.

When will the reduction be implemented?

The recent Decree No. 22-84 of 28 January 2022, published in the Official Journal, provides for the implementation of this reduction as of February 1, 2022, And this , Until 31/01/2023.

It will limit the effects of Rising electricity prices on households, businesses and public organizations.

This measure has a cost for the French State that would amount to eight billion euros and is an integral part of the rate shield designed to counter the explosion in energy prices.
